Everything people ask before they buy: how ReadTalk works offline, what it does, whether it is two-way, what it costs, which languages are ready, and how private and accurate it is.

Does ReadTalk work offline, without internet? +
Yes. Once you download and open the app, ReadTalk does all of its translation on your phone with no wifi, no cell signal, and no data roaming. Nothing you say is ever sent to a server, and it keeps working in a basement, on a job site, on a plane, or anywhere the connection drops. Opening it the first time finishes the setup (about 30 MB), and from then on you are offline for good.
What does ReadTalk do, exactly? +
ReadTalk listens to someone speaking near you and shows what they said as large, easy-to-read English text, in real time. You point your phone at the person talking, and you read the English on your screen. It is made for understanding a live speaker, not for typing sentences.
Can they read what I say back? Is it two-way? +
Yes. Slide the little flag and the whole app flips: you speak English, and they read it as big, easy-to-read text in their language (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, or Japanese) on the same screen. The app never speaks out loud; both sides read. One switch, one flag, nothing to learn.
Is there a subscription or an account? +
No. ReadTalk is a one-time purchase of 9.99 dollars with no subscription, no ads, and no account or sign-up. You buy it once and it is yours, and there is nothing to log into and no personal details to hand over.

Which languages are available? +
All six ReadTalk apps are available now: ReadTalk Spanish, ReadTalk French, ReadTalk Portuguese, ReadTalk Italian, ReadTalk German, and ReadTalk Japanese. Each one is its own focused, offline app that turns that spoken language into big English text, and flips so they can read your English in their language. Every one is available for Android direct from readtalk.app. Spanish and French are also on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad, and the other four are on their way there.
How is ReadTalk different from other translator apps or free ones? +
ReadTalk is built for one job: understanding a live speaker in real life, offline, in big readable text. The live conversation modes in free apps usually need an internet connection, their offline packs are limited, and their text is small. ReadTalk works fully offline, holds the last line on screen, and uses one large caption sized to read across a table.
Does it work in airplane mode or with no wifi? +
Yes. ReadTalk runs entirely on your phone, so airplane mode, no wifi, and no cell signal are all fine. It is a good fit for flights, travel abroad with no data roaming, basements, warehouses, and remote job sites.
Is ReadTalk good for seniors and people who need big text? +
Yes. ReadTalk shows one large caption sized to read across a table or with older eyes, and it holds the last line on screen so there is time to read it. There are no tiny chat bubbles and no clutter, just big words and a single switch, which suits people who find most apps too small and busy.
Is my conversation private? +
Yes. Because ReadTalk translates on your phone and works offline, what you hear is not uploaded to any server. There is no account, no sign-up, and no tracking, so your conversations stay on your device.
How accurate is ReadTalk? +
Before we release any ReadTalk app to the public, we field-test it on real, everyday speech and keep tuning it until it reaches about 95% accuracy, and we do not put a language out until it clears that bar. ReadTalk is still a helpful assistive tool for everyday understanding, not a certified translator, and no speech tool is perfect, so heavy background noise, strong accents, or unusual names can still cause a miss. For legal, medical, or other high-stakes settings, please use a qualified human interpreter rather than relying on any app.
